About Sarah
Welcome! My name is Sarah, and I am a birth doula serving Southern Connecticut and all of Rhode Island. I am a military spouse, mother to three boys, animal lover and a wannabe homesteader. I believe everyone deserves to feel supported and empowered during their birth journey. I am DONA trained with a bachelor’s in science and master’s degree in education.
My doula philosophy is centered on support for mom before, during, and after birth, while offering evidence-based advice. I always aim to understand what my client’s desire is for their birth experience and to provide the education, resources, and help to assist achieving a calm but confident experience in the birthing room. It would be my privilege to be able to support you during your birth.
For the birth of my first child, we hired a doula since we were a military family that was living abroad in Spain. We decided the best decision for our family was for me to return back stateside for the birth and have my husband fly back before. We hired a doula for that birth just in case things did not go as planned. I ended up going into labor 3 days before my husband was returning home, and was incredibly grateful to have the doula support at my birth. My additional support person was unexpectedly my younger sister. After that birth I knew I wanted to start the process of becoming a birth doula myself. It wasn’t until my younger sister became pregnant with her first child that I actually had a reason to complete the training with the desire to support her at her birth the same way she supported me at my first birth.
